a. If a person starts to fall, do not try to prevent the fall. You could injure yourself ant the person.

b. Ease the person to the floor and protect the person’s head. Do not let the person get up until he/she is checked by the nurse.

c. Seniors that fall should take specific steps that possibly reduces the risk of further injury.

Do not panic. Panicking potentially prevents you from accurately assessing the situation after the fall. If the patient cannot get up, do not risk further damage or injury by attempting to force him or her to get up. Call for assistance if needed.
